The Raven - Edgar Allan Poe

The following photo narrative is inspired by a poem, called, "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe. He was an american poet, editor, author, literary critic and a romantic. He was well known for his talesof mystery and macabre.

"Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore.
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -
Perched, and sat, and nothing more."

Brief summary of the poem: The poet is reading books of black magic and the supernatural, in order to call his dead wife back, one winter night. He is depressed, desperate and lonesome.  He hears sounds of tapping and knocking, and assumes he has a visitor. but to his horror, there is no one just perhaps, the wind.  Then again he hears the sound, and as he opens his window, a raven comes flying in. A talking raven, who only says, 'nevermore!' The poet keeps asking the bird questions about his 'lost love,' and the bird replies, with a never more!' The poet gets frustrated and weak, as the 'bird pierces his soul.' In the end, the poet dies, grieving for his wife and his loneliness.

The photographs, were an assignment for a college course, themed, "Animal Perspective."
These images have been shot from the Ravens perspective.
